Carol Spinney - Big Bird Puppeteer Passes at 85

Tremendous loss to children's television. Just about every child growing up watched Big Bird and Oscar on Sesame Street. No matter if they lived in a middle-class, wealthy, poor or minority family, they learned life skills from Big Bird and Oscar. May he RIP and thank you, Carroll, for the memories.

Carol Spinney the long time Big Bird Puppeteer passed away at age 85 at his Connecticut home.

It is a huge loss for Children's television, and along with Sesame Street, who I am sure will be now reunited with Will Lee that played Mr. Hooper or as Big Bird would call him Mr. Lopper. As he had played the two characters of Big Bird and Oscar from the show start in 1969 until 2018. And I am sure one of his hardest moments on the show was having his character say goodbye to beloved friend on the show, that I am sure who hard not only for him and all the other actors that had played the human characters at the time. If you have never seen the segment in which it happened or want to see it again here is the link to it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxlj4Tk83xQ

Thank you, carol spinney!

Thank you, Carol, for your Big Bird and Oscar characters. We will miss you a lot! I grew up watching you and all your friends on Sesame Street. Even the guy you called Mr. Looper!

Here from Sesame Street is when Fred Rgers also appeared as Big Bird pass by and goes into chat with some of the adults including Mr. Hooper https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqWDjJRhCkc , haven't watched it all today but I will for sure have to do it soon watch the whole thing. As I am sure not only with the passing of Carol Spinney and also the death of Fred Rogers in 2003, are the among the two guest losses for kids the grew up watching PBS, as both shows started within a year of each other. Where Misters Roger would air new episodes until 2001, expect for a couple year break when he broke into adult tv for a very short amount of time.

Just yesterday I saw "The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland". I never watched "Sesame Street" regularly but I have seen TV specials about it. I noticed in the credits he played two roles.
