All Digital AM?

From what I am to understand from the articles, the digital AM being proposed, is not compatible with Ubiquity's AM hybrid system which was rejected by the broadcasters.

If somebody has other information, I'd be happy to entertain a conversation on the merits and disadvantages to each.

No, from the offset, all HD Radios capable of receiving AM, have been able to receive the full digital mode. I listened to the full digital test of KRKO Everett WA from Portland OR and was quite impressed. I thought it sounded just like FM, but quieter and that's at night, 200 miles away! When I was a dxer, 40 years ago, their analog signal was weak but I could usually hear it. I doubt if it comes in at all now.

If an AM music station has a good FM translator such that no one listens to the AM, then I would say to run the AM in full digital mode and maybe even use it as an STL with which to feed the translator.
Then, they could also promote the all digital AM and if they get one listener on it, well...one is more than zero, at least they are saving the cost of a second STL unless the AM is in practice translating the translator.
Sarasota has two signal-challenged music AMs driving the same tower and both have decent translators. GO FOR IT!
