Bein Sports launch OTA channel

BeIn doesn't have rights to much of interest to most American sports fans, and it looks like most attractive of their boxing, MMA and soccer programming isn't going to be given away for nothing on an OTA channel. The channel it's landed on in Hartford, WRNT-LD, has very limited coverage and isn't on any cable systems in my area (south of the city). For micro-niche sports fans only, I'm afraid, or people who absolutely must be watching some sort of athletic contest as often as possible but don't have cable.

Is it going to air in Boston or Providence? And it will also carry MLW Wrestling?

Wrestling isn't mentioned at all in the release. It must not be considered a selling point for the new channel, if it's being carried. Boston and Providence aren't in the release either.

Actually, it is: " In addition to soccer, beIN SPORTS serves as a haven for fans of motorsports, tennis, boxing, wrestling, mixed martial arts (MMA), track & field, swimming, skiing and handball, among others."

One thing not mentioned in the release is that beIN is the same company that today made a deal with ViacomCBS for the Miramax film library. And that they're based in Qatar. I'm not kidding.

Oops, missed the wrestling reference. Sorry. And I thought BeIn's being based in Qatar was common knowledge. IIRC, it started appearing on US cable systems around the time the ill-fated Al Jazeera America did, perhaps a little later. I was surprised at how little negative reaction there was. Maybe it was because BeIn was a sports operation and covered events in a professional, nonpolitical manner.

If it's anything like Stadium they can keep it.

Nothing but bad, cheaply produced talking head shows with very little live sports content.
