Sirius/XM channels jockless? ...some with jocks?

Been fiddling around the Sirius/XM dial since Christmas.

I noticed that some of the channels are positioned as 'jockless' (i.e.."Love Songs") while others have a live....err...voicetracked Djs.

Other channels have jocks sometimes...and not other times.

Has anyone put together a list of SiriusXM channels that feature DJ's

What? No live & local talent 24/7? What's wrong with them?

One could argue that the well-known New York personalities who now have airshifts there are still local talents. Preston Trombly (ex-WQXR) on Symphony Hall still prattles on about the concerts he's seen at Carnegie Hall or other NY venues. Carol Miller and Meg Griffin on Deep Tracks will mention acts coming to New York and surrounding cities. Cousin Brucie on '60s on 6 takes phone calls, and nearly all of them are from the NYC metropolitan area, which makes sense, since he's nobody to the rest of America.

But yeah, there is no "local" -- nor can there be -- on a national broadcast.

The majority of the music programming that has air talent are voice tracked. There a couple live shows though, like one of the morning kids shows and the morning guy on 60's on 6. He could VT his show, but he chooses to do it live each morning.

The political and sports-talk shows are mostly live. MLB, Golf, and Nascar-talk, are live most of the day and well into the night. How someone can talk about NASCAR 18+ hours a day is a head scratcher, but callers are actually there.

Put together a list? Who would bother with such a tedious task? And why?

The Pulse is live-ish in mornings. That much I know. Call in games and conversation topics. Segments repeat since the show runs six hours.

....because they would prefer to listen to channels with a human element? (Even if it's VT-ed.)

I would prefer to listen to Shotgun Tom Kelly on 60's on 6.....than listening to Pandora's 60's channel.

Pretty sure sirius xm the heat and sirius xm fly channels are live as well as shade 45. Vivid radio during the day most of the time is live as well.

I'm glad Wimmex asked this question. I've heard that a few of the DJs on various music channels prefer to do their shows live, such as Pat St. John on 60s on 6. I guess they have that option. St. John also hosts Classic Rewind on Sat. & Sun. nights, so obviously those shifts are voice tracked.

The smooth jazz channel Watercolors has a voice tracked DJ named Lily during the day, but goes without DJs evenings and night. It had two but the afternoon/evening DJ died last year. I sometimes listen to Love (Soft AC), The Bridge (Soft Classic Rock) and Spa (New Age Music) which have no DJs. Because they are designed to be soft, having no DJs is not a problem.

80s on 8 has the former MTV VJs Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter and Nina Blackwood. They voice track, but I enjoy their insights and don't mind knowing they are not live. The three are heard from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. seven days a week, so voice tracking is needed. Goodman also does an afternoon talk show on Volume, discussing topics about music and taking phone calls. So he does that live.

There is one channel on Sirius XM that has live voices 24/7. Fox News Headlines, which acts as an all-news channel. It promises to be live at all times. The anchors work one hour on, one hour off, for four hours. So an anchor heard at 6am also does the 8, 10 and noon hours live. The next anchor is on at 7, 9, 11am and 1pm. Obviously, many of the spoken word channels doing politics, sports and a few other topics, are live during the day, so they can take phone calls. Then they get repeated at night and weekends.
