107.5 The Christmas Star

107.5 W298BZ, The new translator for 1550 WLOR, has broken away from its temporary simulcast with 98.1 The Beat and is playing commercial free non stop Christmas music as "The Christmas Star." "The Beat" remains at 98.1 W251AC and WAHR-HD2 which is now officially the parent signal for the 98.1 translator. I guess we'll all finally see what the new 1550/107.5 will be once Christmas is over.

Well, it could be worse… The Christmas music that was on the HD-2/translator combo over in Pensacola near me went from holiday tunes to… a loop of the Baby Shark song. For several days now.

After hearing the "Baby Shark" stuff for several days, I bet the listeners are ready for the Christmas music to return to 94.5... lol.

Oh wow lol. Well yeah, it could be worse. Its just ridiculous that they completely blew their opportunity to launch a new station. They took WAHR through expensive upgrades to bring it digital in order to move 98.1 to HD2 and launch 107.5 with 1550. They advertised The Christmas Star with billboards and mentions on sister Star 99.1 on the air and on social media. They drew attention to the new station on a new frequency that people aren't used to existing in this market. They spiked interest of what would happen after Christmas was over, just to return to a simulcast of The Beat? I mean, it would be different if 107.5 offered coverage in areas that 98.1 doesn't and they plan on a permanent simulcast, but thats not the case. There is no mention of 107.5 on The Beat other than call letters at the legal ID which listeners don't even know what that means. It is now a complete and total waste of signal and power as a simulcast. If they weren't ready to launch a new station they should have just kept it silent until they were ready. They seem very disorganized over there.
