Opie discusses Howard Stern trashing dead Don Imus

Hardly shocking that Stern would trash Imus. They never got along basically hating each other from the first time they met.

I think Howard is afraid that Imus will be called the first shock jock, so he kept trashing him years after they were on the same station.

Imus seemed to have toned down the Stern-hating as he aged and sobered up...Stern was never against giving the I-man a tongue lashing.

Actually, Opie and Anthony themselves were not fans of Imus during their WNEW days. They used to mock Imus regularly (back then they lampooned everybody: CBS-FM, Don and Mike, Darian O'Toole, even their own station). Opie's view seemed to change over the years referring to himself as Imus' long-lost son...I suppose when you've been on the top of the heap in NYC radio to a podcast that gets removed from WW1, your views mellow out a wee bit.

Imus thought they were funny when they made fun of him. I remember that Anthony didn't like Imus on WNEW. Opie met Imus at a book signing, and they became friends.

... and it made for some great radio during the four decades it was going on ... both sides. I doubt that we will ever see that again.

I don't remember Imus saying much about Howard besides Mel Karmazin liking him more than he liked Howard or the the time when Howard called into the show after Bernard said that Beth had Herpes.
