iHeartMedia Bloodbath- Local Layoffs

Among the mass layoffs nationwide, a couple of local names popped up.

AllAccess is reporting that John Allers (Johnny), PD and Morning Man on Radio 104.5 is out. He also was National Programming Group Sr. Brand Coordinator Alternative & Rock.

AllAccess also reports that Wendy Rollins was cut from Alt 105.7 in Atlanta. She still voicetracked weekends on Radio 104.5.

And finally, Palmer, who was based at 106.5 The End in Charlotte, but was also piped in for weekends via voicetrack on Radio 104.5 was let go today too.

I have not heard any other names from the Philly cluster. It sucks for those let go, and I really hope that no one else suffers the unemployment bug.

Sad. "New technology" is to blame for the firing of a slew of on air talent and local programming jobs? Okey dokey.

Looks like Wendy Rollins' page is also gone from ALT 99.3 in central PA, where she was also voice tracking mid-days.

Tried to see who is actually on WRFF, but that's impossible on iHeart sites these days. Not even a page anywhere listing jocks or a schedule. Maybe that's by design? Hmm...

You think Iheart media as a company is in serious trouble for the future. Do you see them selling their radio stations to other companies. They filed for bankruptcy not too long ago. Des Moines was impacted pretty bad I believe all the Iheart Des Moines on air staff stations where shafted am I right. Ironically 100.3 the bus is sounding diffrently all of the sudden

Wendy was let go as well. And apparently, iHeart removed all of the jock pages from all of the station websites as the "employee dislocations" started. It's made it much harder to track all who were let go.

i wonder if Randy Bauman and the lady who does the afternoon show on WDVE pittsburgh been let go. I think if that happened that would cause outrage

No, they won't be selling radio stations. John Malone wants the radio stations as the distribution channel he doesn't have.

No. Reorganizations happen. Outside of normal/day-to-day type business transactions (which people will inevitably read too much into), no, in the near term this is not a signal of a major sell-off to come. No matter what happened in Des Moines. Which isn’t really relevant to Philly. :)

Radio is what is termed a "mature business".
As such often the only option available to you to augment the bottom line is to cut payroll.

Not sure I totally agree with you. They might be making the company more lean for Liberty Media to acquire it.
