Adult Alternative 'The Surf' to Launch in West Palm

Victor Canales is taking another shot at alt rock in West Palm when The Surf launches on WSVU and its associated FM translators on Dec. 26. The artists they mention already play on that other nautically themed station in Miami so we'll see what impact it has in West Palm. Should be interesting.

101.7 is working but 92.5 is under a CP that should cover boynton and lake worth and it must not be up yet because it’s
Reception is terrible

It's being billed as a classic rock station but with a broader playlist than the Gater or Big. I can sort of pick it up in the daytime here in Broward. The music isn't bad and the imaging is pretty good. If I lived in Palm Beach I'd listen.

I didn't read the updated article so that's my bad. It sounds like they're using a web stream or something to send audio to the transmitter. I'm hearing a lot of digital artifacts in the audio, even on the AM.

As the linked article says, the flip wasn't to AAA, but rather Classic Rock.

BTW Ozzy has two songs now in the Active Rock chart.
But of course this thread still has the same title.

I saw that "Good Morning America" was going to talk about his health. How is he doing?

Interesting take on the format. In addition to usual Classic Rock fanfare, during past week or so I've heard (not complaining):

Shawn Colvin, Shawn Mullins, Sheryl Crow, Luscious Jackson, Fatboy Slim, and more gold-based Modern Rock "Lite"

I just came across this station last week and have definitely added it into my rotation. They call themselves "classic rock" but it's a weird classic rock/classic alternative/almost-AAA hybrid. I've heard Led Zeppelin alongside Vertical Horizon, and they're promoting all 90's nights weeknights from 7-12. I also heard Blessed Union of Souls' "Hey Leonardo" which is SUCH a late 90's throwback. Whatever it is, I REALLY appreciate the wide playlist. Here's hoping it sticks around for a good long while!
