There are a variety of widely used programs, such as Wide Orbit, Zetta from RCS, AudioVault from BE. There are some secondary ones, too, generally used by smaller stations.

Omniplayer is mostly and fairly widely used in Europe, some parts of Africa and the Middle East. I'm not familiar with any stations using it in the US.

US Stations want systems that are targeted at not only US radio stations, but which have features that comply with US FCC rules and the like.

They don't want services that operate from European time zones and which target very different program structures. When a station in the western US might want technical support, the Europeans are on their way home after work...

Several European systems tried to gain a place in US markets several decades ago... none really managed to make a long-term, significant impact.

Really do you think so

Unless you have a station with complex switching and multiple networks a 20k automation system is not necessary. I've used Scullys, Audisk, Arrakis, Smartcaster, Scott and other and they all do the same functions more or less.

Back in 2004 with a limited budget. I decided to try a new program called Stationplaylist and never looked back. The most important feature, it has never crashed or missed a commercial. It comes with music scheduling software (loaded with scheduling features) , Voicetacking (using a method that is extremely simple, but very tight) Traffic import (we use Natural Log) Satellite switching functions. No database to crash and runs on any computer or soundcard system. If even has a request utility for listeners (which would be a nightmare for a commercial FM).

$699 for the complete system. Support is $69 a year. Oh, I reboot once a year for software updates. As long as you keep your support up to date, he will get back to you within a few hours via email and even reached out to you (in groups) if he see a question that you need addressed.

Even third party vendors such as Natural Log and Securenet support the program.

The only complaint is the screen is ugly. It looks like a old paper log. For me it is not a issue, and listeners will never see it only hear it.

You can test drive it. stationplaylist.com

RadioBOSS is inexpensive and reliable automation software which includes audio processing (Stereo Tool is available as a free plug-in) and interface to connect to your streaming provider.
You can take it for a test drive here:

WRMI Miami uses Zararadio. Believe their home office is in Spain. Its easy to use and runs on modest equipment. I've seen it run flawlessly on an IBM K6-133.

Zara Radio & Radio Boss are great programs for internet radio stations and LPFMs. Both are missing key features for a Commercial broadcast station:

Other low cost options with full broadcast features:

https://www.playoutone.com

http://www.rivendellaudio.org/ Used by many stations including Salem. It is FREE, and requires some computer knowledge.

Wide Orbit, Zetta, AudioVault are the next level, but cost much more.

Rivendell requires a Linux OS.
There's also Direttore which is Italy based. My biggest problem with Direttore is that its limited to 256 events in the playlist.
NOW, you can program more than 256 events but it WILL crash the program AND computer.
But, to get it back after a re-boot, you must go into your C: drive, select Diretorre, then select playlist.
Manually delete the illegal entries, click save, exit, reboot, and YOU ARE HEALED!
Been there and done all that. I suspect some other automation programs are like that as well.

The programs I mentioned don't have those limitations. I've had StationPlaylist in use since 2013 with no limitations. Yes Rivendell will require Linux, but a full feature broadcast playout system.
