Lazer Communications Buys KSFN 1510 AM/San Francisco

https://news.****************/articles/n38157/Lazer-Communications-Buys-KSFN-1510-AM-San-Francisco

A deal is at play for KSFN-AM

(a) does that mean the current Spanish broadcast is not long for this world?

(b) why does the KSFN logo have the call letters wrong? (KFSN?) It's been that way for a long time.

Laser Broadcasting owns about 45 stations right now, and all are in Spanish.

And now Lasar will launch UnAnimo Deportes for 1510 AM

Looking forward to this...

David E. can expound more if he wants, but from what I understand, Spanish sports as a format is not unlike Spanish talk. If you're in a place with a non-homogeneous Spanish population, very few will be happy with the sporting options presented. What Mexicans like is not necessarily what Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, or Colombians, etc. like.

That being said, Lazer has a large amount of rimshot signals in their portfolio(at least here in NorCal). A niche format such as soccer-oriented Spanish sports station could do quite nice on some of the distant FMs or AMs. If it's not a failure in the Bay Area, I'd imagine it in Modesto and Sacramento on a station in the not-terribly-distant future.
