Prescott's Fun Oldies 97.9 now K-FAB 97.9

Great Circle Media's "Fun Oldies 97.9 in Prescott has changed
format. "Fun Oldies" featured songs from the 50's, 60's and 70's.
It was hosted by Steve Goddard. The new format, "K-FAB,"
features songs from the 60's only. The 250 watt signal on 97.9
is a simulcast of the HD-2 99.9.

The 60's were introduced by girl groups (replacing groups and labels caught in the payola scandal), then we had a very brief dash of Folk which was quickly overthrown by the British Invasion which co-existed for a time with Vietnam Protest Rock. Intermixed in that decade was a dash of Standards, instrumentals and Motown.

I don't see how restricting "Goddard's Gold" to the one decade is a move forward for us Geezers. Unless you are ditching music that drives listeners away how does a smaller playlist help the cause in a town filled to the brim with retirees?

Steve Goddard's "fun oldies" format was a nice change to the other
FM music offerings in the area. I often found myself listening in
preference to KAHM. The new format is repetitive and not the kind
of music older people tend to prefer......

Goddard was kind of a throwback to the Top 40 DJ's of the 60's and 70's and I always liked his shows too.
