NESN’s new logo

I know this is mostly for broadcast TV, but just tonight when I tuned into NESN to watch the Bruins game, I was shocked to see that after 33 years, they finally unveiled a new logo. I was literally so confused when I saw it. For a second, I thought I tuned to the wrong channel. This new logo features a big double letter “N” that looks like hills, with “NESN” printed under it in smaller letters. Does anyone know the reason behind this drastic change?

Paper tickets are pretty much less worthy out there as tickets are more on our phones. That's one reason behind this change and I'm not making that up.

Huh? This is something between a non-sequitur and gibberish. What does the logo of a TV network have to do with tickets? And what does "pretty much less worthy" mean in regard to paper tickets?

They didn't ditch it though, it's still called NESN. They can redo a logo and not completely lose their branding.

It's a stylized N, with "NESN" underneath it. ESPN ditched its "SPN" completely when it rebranded with its now-familiar "E." If there's any lingering nostalgia out there for the old logo with ESPN in the middle of what appears to be the outline of a racetrack, I doubt anyone is blaming it for the network's viewership decline. (Cord cutting is the principal demon there.) Time marches on, as does media branding. Just. Let. It. Go.

ESPN uses the E on their mic flags and app but the official on air logo hasn't changed that much in 40 years.

You're right - I had just been reading about the new NBCU studios and NECN changes and looked too quickly here where the subject is, of course NESN...
