On the Arctic Norway receiver tonight at 0630-0700UTC heard Alaskans KIAM-630 weak, KFBX-970 strong, KOTZ-720 good, WISN-1130 good, CHQR-770 very good, and 660 Calgary fair.
Anyone who likes 60s oldies should tune in KOTZ as they are always playing 60s music at this time. Not too many places left to hear 60s music on AM.

On the Norway receiver Feb 1, around 0700 UTC finally heard WSSP 1250 with a clear ID. 1130 was a fairly strong Vancouver. 750 was a pretty strong KXTG with Super Bowl talk. Speaking of the Super Bowl, sports talk from the UK on 1089 was strong. 720 KOTZ had a high school basketball game.
I've been having some nice success on the Norway rig these past few nights. WSSP a couple of times...which still amazes me. Also this past week....CHMJ (730 Vanouver), CKWX, WHAS, WHO, KFAB, KMOX, CBI (1140Sydney, Nova Scotia 10kw), KFBK, I also heard hockey on 960, and assumed CFAC, but couldn't positively ID it).
Update: Two more from my brief session on the Norway SDR during Super bowl halftime. Both from Washington State. 1380: KRKO from Everett with oldies. Fair at best, but on top. Then 1510: KGA from Spokane during commercial break. Faded in a hurry, but I'm guessing the 540 watt CP wasn't operational.
Arctic conditions can produce interesting DX results. Last night when I was listening most of the North American DX was Alaska or the Pacific NW. I heard nothing from the middle of the US or Canada. The night before Milwaukee, Omaha and others were strong. You never know what you might hear on that receiver. It's always an interesting listen.
Last night on the Iceland rig the east coasters were in strong. CFRB, WBBR, and WBZ were strong. Lots of hets on that receiver last night.

i heard KRKO about an hour after you did on the Norway SDR. Very strong signal. Also caught CFAC and 1130 from Vancouver with a VG signal.
CFRB has been elusive for me this year on both the Norway and Iceland rigs. WBZ has been invisible when I;ve tried for it on the Norway SDR, but relatively easy on the Iceland receiver. As for the hets, it's either my imagination or there are more of them this year than last. Setting the selectivity to "AMN" helps, but doesn't completely solve the problem.
That was the first time I heard CFRB on Iceland. WINS was well underneath. It amazes me how well WBZ gets into Europe with their DA. I heard them very often on the Northern Ireland receiver several years back. I agree that I'm noticing many more hets this year.
I believe someone heard WOOD last year. Next time I'm on the Arctic SDR I'll try to listen for it.
I heard WOOD once last winter, but not so far this winter. KGLO (1300 Mason City, Iowa), also pumps a 5kw signal straight north. I know others have heard it recently, and I thought I might have had it last week, but I couldn't positively ID it.
As for WTCM, I've looked for it, but haven't heard it yet. Usually if I've heard anything from North America on 580 its been CFRA.
I listened for awhile to the Norway Arctic receiver around 0600UTC, but from North America only the Pacific Northwest was prominent. The Alaskans were there along with 770 & 660 from Calgary. Newsradio 1130 from Vancouver was strong and KOMO was the strongest station-like a local. KGO was in weak. The season is winding down for this receiver so trying to catch what I can. There was nothing there from eastern or central US or Canada when I listened.
I tuned in to the Norway arctic receiver for a while last night around 0200-0300 UTC. Conditions for North America were fair at best. One nugget, however was KNZR (1560 10kw) from Bakersfield. Signal was fair, alone and I got a positive ID. KJR was in but no KOMO, which was a surprise to me. The strongest signal from the Pacific Northwest was KRKO on 1380.
Congratulations on KGO. I've never heard them on the Norway or Iceland rigs. I always wind up with the BBC Scotland blowtorch on 810 from Edinburgh. In 1999, my wife and I stayed at a hotel in Edinburgh with a view of the castle, a complimentary bottle of champagne, and a cheap clock radio that only picked up 810 on the AM band. (Fortunately, my DX 375 did considerably better!)
Good description on the NA DX conditions last night. The Pacific NW was all I could hear. Interesting you didn't hear KOMO as I've found they are usually the strongest NA station and last night when I listened they were blasting in. This is only the 2nd time I've heard KGO. I usually get that BBC station.
That's usually my experience. But not during my session last night (2/10). There was a station broadcasting in a language I did not recognize dominating the channel with a good signal.
Conditions were not so good last night on the Arctic receiver. Once again the Pacific NW was all I could hear from NA. However, I did hear KGO again a bit stronger than the night before. Also checked out the Hawaii receiver in Kaneohe last night, but conditions were poor.
The DX was better tonight on both the Arctic & Hawaii SDRs. Heard WGN on the Hawaii SDR with Blackhawks postgame at 0630UTC. Good signal, best I've heard of WGN on the Kaneohe SDR. On the Arctic receiver I was looking for KGO, but instead heard CKJS Winnipeg playing 60s oldies. On 1300 I was trying for WOOD, but instead heard KGLO Mason City, Ia.
It was either Saudi Arabia or Iran broadcasting on 999 kHz. Both are common on the Arctic SDR. Spain and Italy also heard. The MWLIST is a good resource on what is on each frequency. Here is their list of Europe/Africa and Middle East for 999 kHz:
