CW 61 Starting Morning Newscast

With the Scripps acquisition of CW 61, they are apparently starting a weekday morning newscast. On the Scripps job website, they are advertising for 2 positions:

1. AM Anchor/Traffic Reporter -- a dual role as anchor and traffic reporter
2. AM Anchor/Meteorologist -- a dual role as anchor and meteorologist

So, it appears that they will be using a separate anchor team from ABC15 Mornings, but I assume the reporter will do double-duty. Is there really room for yet another morning newscast??? Perhaps it will air from 7am to 9am (or 10am) so as to not compete with ABC 15's morning newscast.

No, I haven't been able to find anything yet. Interestingly enough, they removed the job listing for AM Anchor/Traffic Reorter for the job listing. So, I believe we can safely assume that Whitney Clark has taken that position.

They are still looking for the AM Anchor/Meteorologist though. I'm sure it won't take them too long to fill that position -- it must be desirable for someone who is looking to move up in tv news. Phoenix seems to attract a number of those looking to move up.

But the news director said that she will be doing some weather and some traffic reporting. It sounds like they haven't decided which position she will take (anchor/weather or anchor/traffic).

It's interesting that it is a "continuation" of ABC15 Mornings, but with totally different anchors/traffic/weather. Usually, these "continuations" keep the same weather and traffic personnel from the main show/

Good to hear! Allison was arguably Ch. 15's best morning anchor/reporter. Big loss for sure. I hope it'll be a good move for her on CW 61.

In my opinion, if AZ Family offered O'Kelly an anchor position, I bet she'd take it in a heartbeat. Just saying.

O'Kelley was a natural fit over at GMAZ (though one poster on this board would vehemently disagree). I think the turmoil when Belo was pruchased by Tegna led O'Kelley to look for greener pastures in the DFW market. In hindsight, she should have stayed at KTVK. Arguably, she was a better fit than Olivia.

Which I can't believe they actually got to, with their 30 min nonstop nail-biting coverage of Bernie Sanders walking thru an Encanto 'hood! ;-)
 
Allison Rodriguez posted that beginning March 30th, Justin Pazera will be joining her for ABC15 Mornings on CW61 from 7-9 AM.
 
Just saw a commercial where Allison informed that the CW show will be an extension on ABC Mornings, continuing to concentrate on local news. Then there was a group shot of all six personalities.

Yep, saw the commercial last night. It will be nice to have an alternative to GMAZ and Fox AZ Morning, particularly since I'm going to be working from home for the foreseeable future.
 
Marc Thompson is back this morning on ABC15! This makes me so happy, as he was hit by a car a few months back, and I'm relieved that he recovered & is well enough to return. I guess I needed to feel positively when everything else is so chaotic. xoxo
 
I wonder if PEARL is going to delay the transition of KASW's spectrum to ATSC 3.0 because of the current emergency? It doesn't make sense to implement technology nobody can use during a pandemic.
