Online radio listening posts..

It was either Saudi Arabia or Iran broadcasting on 999 kHz. Both are common on the Arctic SDR. Spain and Italy also heard. The MWLIST is a good resource on what is on each frequency. Here is their list of Europe/Africa and Middle East for 999 kHz:

Thanks CADXER. Last few times I've been listening it's already past sunrise in Europe, but I have caught one of those stations in the past interfering with KOMO when I listen earlier.

I was just listening to the Arctic (Asia/Pacific) and Kong (North America) SDR's (2300 UTC). At 999 on the North America SDR, the Saudi w/Koranic chanting and Spain take turns dominating. On the Asia SDR, it's a jumble with Spain on top and China and possibly Italy underneath, with no sign of the Saudi.

Another interesting thing noted just now on the Arctic Asia SDR was a good signal on 1062 from Country Radio in Prague. Classic country (Help Me Make It Through the Night as I type this) with Czech talk and "Country Radio" jingles between songs. I'm hearing Chinese underneath, quite a mix.

The Arctic SDR seems to be saving the best 'til last (end of the season). A few highlights from this evening 0200-0300 UTC....

670: KBOI
690: CBU
700: CJLI
770: CHQR
960: CFAC
990: CBW (underneath a European station)
1000: KOMO....accompanied by a big time het
1110: KFAB
1130: CKWX
1140: Religion CHRB? Good signal
1160: KSL weak
1500: KSTP weak
1520: KXXA blasting
1580: KGAL fair....5kw day, 1kw night. I wonder which one. University of Oregan basketball and multiple IDs.

Surprisingly the privately owned Czech AM stations get out quite well. Besides the Country Radio on 1062, Radio Impuls on 981 kHz is heard quite often on the Arctic SDR. The interesting station is Radio Dechovka on 792 and 1233 kHz. You can't mistake this station as they play exclusively Polka type music, which stands out in the mix of stations. For me listening to these Czech stations brings back memories as I grew up in the old Czechoslovakia.

That's very cool, a taste of home.

I'm having trouble connecting to the Arctic SDR's at the moment, but on an Iceland SDR ( http://78.40.253.65/ ), I'm getting a strong Radio Dechovka on 1233, but 792 is not audible. Also Radio Dvojka from the Czech Republic is doing quite well on 954 and on 639. I can barely hear their parallel on 1332 under Radio Tehran.

I've heard the station on both frequencies on the Arctic SDR. Usually with good signals. 1233 has been particularly reliable.

A few more "logs on the fire" Arctic SDR Feb 14 0200-300 UTC

660: CFFR
760: WJR
800: CKLW
870: WWL Weak, but steady and alone. LSU vs Indiana Baseball. I heard WWL two years ago. Not at all last year.
1060: CKMX

Most of what I also heard the previous night was also present

The midwest has been coming in better the last two nights. For several nights before that it was totally absent. I'll add WBBM to tonights list at 0435 UTC

Good signal on the Arctic SDR this morning at 0600 UTC from KHAR 590 Anchorage, with Ferrall on the Bench from CBS Sports. This is 2+ hours after Saudi sunrise so none of the usual 594 slop.

0700UTC I caught a weaker KHAR on the Arctic SDR. Most of the Alaskans were weaker this time. Caught a strong signal from Global News 880 Edmonton(not sure of the calls). WBBM was coming through fair/good.

I noticed Friday night (14th) when I checked in, that KBRW was getting clobbered. Either by CJOB or CFTR. Canadian, but too much noise etc. to identify which one.

Yes, and KBRW is usually the strongest AK signal and the best indicator of where the DX is coming from.

This morning 2/17 @0600UTC a little bit of everything on the Arctic receiver: KBRW 680 strong at times, but some fading. 720 KOTZ weak, 760 WJR weak, 780 WBBM fair, 810 KGO mixing with another station, 880 Edmonton good. The surprises for me anyway, 1030 WBZ good, 1070 KNX fair-good, 1080 WTIC good.
Interesting stuff from both coasts.

Don't know how much life is left this season on the Arctic receiver, but I did give a quick listen around 0630UTZ. The band was pretty dead except for one station coming through nice and steady on 1150. WHBY with no fading whatsoever.
Went over to the Maui, Hawaii receiver and heard KFIR 720 from Oregon. I'll bet they weren't running their 146 night time watts.

Seems like the party may indeed be winding down for the Arctic SDR

Checked in around 0815 GMT tonight. KBRW was in, but not much else from North America. Exceptions were KFAB and KSTP. Both alone with fair signals.

Yes the "Arctic party" is winding down, but last night WHBY was still coming through fairly well.

Can someone help me ID this Regional Mexican station on 540 last night, from the Kittitas SDR receiver? Is this Los Mochis or Las Vegas NM? Either would be new.

http://www.mediafire.com/file/d5b3nh1m7jib6o0/unid_540_from_kittitas_sdr_22120_1245am.wma/file

(Note: As this SDR is just 5 miles E of me, this is the receiver that I normally use when I don't feel like going outside, which has been most of the time lately... :) )

Also heard last night were 540 XEWA San Luis Potosi with Los 40 pop // stream, along with XESURF and CBK. 590 had the chorus of Coast's...KID and KQNT IDed, and then right before the bumper music kicked in, I heard the SportsCenter jingle and an ESPN promo way under. KXSP Omaha NE! Rare!
1280 KQLL NV was good under KIT at times with oldies, including The Contours 'Do You Love Me.' Sure not 28 watts?

Yes the conditions are not the same, but there is still some interesting stuff to be heard.

I tuned in last night between 0300-0500 UTC and heard these on the Arctic SDR:

531 Faroe Islands battling it out with Jil FM
940 Brazil's 100kW with religious programming in Portuguese
1440 Radio 208 from Copenhagen with listed 500 Watts playing classic rock tunes with good signal
1476 TWR Africa from Benin with very good signal
1530 Voice of America from Sao Tome mixing with KFBK

North American stations were very weak, but did manage to hear WYLL almost equal in strength with KSL
