How will WTIC-1080 handle a Rush-less airwave

So eventually Rush will be off AM radio, how will WTIC fill the timeslot. Will they stay with a conservative talker or go local all day?

I think a lot of that depends on how Rush's syndicator responds to the situation. It's likely they'll move Sean Hannity in the slot. Right now, WTIC is running Hannity in late night, so moving him to mid-days is an easy and obvious solution. But if iHeart and Premiere replace Rush with another host, then the station has many syndicated options available, without adding a new salary to their budget.

Does Hannity have the appeal that Rush does with a more mainstream audience. I wonder how he would play here at noon.

How much longer does Rush's contract with Premiere run? Would they run someone in his slot or just drop his show altogether.

He just signed a new multi-year contract. But typically an affiliation agreement has a clause in there that stations aren't bound to the contract if the host dies. That was the case with stations that carried Country Top 40 with Bob Kingsley. When Bob died on October, stations were able to make changes.

The thing about Hannity is he is the #2 radio host in the country, right behind Rush, so he clearly has a lot of appeal. What's hurt Hannity's show is that it runs live in afternoon drive, and most stations would prefer to run something local at that time.

Here's a link to the story about Rush's contract:

I think that Hannity will stay where he is, live from 3 to 6. Don't forget, WTIC delays the show in Hartford (10 pm-1 am). Also, if he took over Rush's noon time slot, that would make for a very long day since Sean does the TV show at night.

Keep an eye on Buck Sexton. He is the only one to do fill-in's for all three of the national daytime talkers ... Rush, Glenn Beck, and Hannity. Sexton's new live, exclusive WOR hour starts Monday night at 6. That's in addition to the three hour nationwide show that runs at night.

Buck Sexton has nothing to do with WTIC. His show airs in the Hartford Market on NewsRadio 100.9/1410 WPOP.

I thought a lot of that right-wing talk aired on WDRC-AM 1360 of Hartford? (On a separate note, weren't they the ones who pulled that Trump radio stunt a few months ago?)

Imagine that? There are three Hartford stations airing conservative talk ...

WTIC 1080 (Rush, Hannity, and local) ... WDRC (Bill O'Reilly, Ben Shapiro, Mike Gallagher, Dana Loesch, Michael Savage, Lars Larson ... and iHeart's NEWSRADIO 1410 100.9 WPOP (Howie Carr, Mark Levin, Buck Sexton, Glenn Beck).

Yes. WDRC was branded TRUMP 103.3, I believe, twice.

That darn liberal mainstream media! Something ought to be done about this!

Unless there's breaking news, Hannity records the TV show more often than not.

The Rush Limbaugh Show is on WTIC -----> Buck Sexton has been a fill-in for Rush Limbaugh on WTIC.

It looks like some sort of connection to me.

I wonder if he would take over as permanent fill in host when Rush leaves for good.

Every day is an audition. It's an audition for everyone who wants to take over that slot.

But I've seen some people peak too soon as they audition for a particular slot. You might think you have a shot at something, and your time passes before you get the gig, and someone else slips in ahead of you. Buck's advantage now is his age. But if he waits too long, someone else may jump ahead of him.
