If you are wondering what this is about here its that Mike Bloomberg is running for the DNC nomination happens to have investments, management and leadership roles at Bloomberg Media the competitor of CNBC and Fox Business Channel. Now there are talks that Bloomberg media and Bloomberg LLC could be sent to blind trust if he gets elected or gets the DNC nomination.

Tim O’Brien told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour that the billionaire will divest Bloomberg LP if elected and will also release his tax returns.
An adviser to Michael Bloomberg’s 2020 presidential campaign says that the billionaire will sell his media and information company if he is elected president.

Tim O’Brien told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour in an interview Tuesday that Bloomberg will divest Bloomberg LP if elected president and will also release his tax returns, unlike President Donald Trump.

“There will be no confusion about any of his financial holdings blurring the line between public service and personal profiteering,” O’Brien said. “We will be 180 degrees from where Donald Trump is on these issues.”

Independence at Bloomberg LP has been a hot-button issue since Bloomberg entered the race. The company enacted new rules limiting investigations into Bloomberg and his Democratic primary competitors, sparking confusion among staff about what is acceptable reporting and what crosses the line.

In an interview with The Associated Press, O'Brien said Bloomberg would place the company in a blind trust, an arrangement by which a person gives up control but not ownership of assets to an independent trustee. The blind trust's trustee would sell the company and use the proceeds for Bloomberg Philanthropies, a charitable organization, O'Brien told the AP.

Also how the Bloomberg O&O's cover the campaign is a sensitive issue for the staff given the situation they are in.

Bloomberg then grew the business to include a financial news arm, which has morphed into a major news wire service. The outlet has faced criticism for allowing its reporters to cover the campaign but blocking them from reporting in-depth investigations into Bloomberg or his Democratic rivals. Newsroom leaders didn’t impose similar restrictions on reporting regarding Trump.

Bloomberg has also faced renewed scrutiny over lawsuits filed by women at his company alleging discrimination or hostile treatment. Bloomberg has said he won’t release women from any nondisclosure agreements they’ve signed with the company.

Bloomberg entered the presidential race in November and has been steadily climbing in national polls, buoyed by $400 million in advertising. Worth an estimated $60 billion, he is entirely self-funding his campaign.

WBBR Radio in NYC and WNBP-FM are affected by this announcement given that they are the O&O's for Bloomberg media.
