Katherine Johnson, 101, inspired "Hidden Figures"

it's weird that a woman who while a hidden figure in NASA and played a huge part of in making Black History died on the final week of this year's Black History Month. but still, she lived a long life, that had her historic achievements hidden (due to segregation) until more recently where it was finally celebrated and she will forever live on in the history books for space history, mathematics history and most importantly or all, black history, RIP.

It is, but to people's bodies even career what week it is in? And what is also weird is how the movie that made it look like, she, Mary Jackson, and Dorothy Vaughn had this close friendship, and they carpooled together, but in real life they weren't even that close they din't see each other much and assuming were not even friends. And even the first scene were they are all adults were they stopped by the white police officer, that never happened either. But you are right, she had a very long life most people aren't even lucky enough to hit triple digits. Plus she was the only one still alive when the movie was made, she would have turned 102 on August 18th. And I see on her Wikiepida page that her husband James Johnson died last March at the age of 93, so he not nearly as old as she was.

John Williams on WGN Radio in Chicago yesterday had on his show Margot Lee Shetterly that is the author of the book Hidden Figures that of course became the movie and here is the link to the podcast if anybody is interested in hearing the interview https://wgnradio.com/2020/02/25/hid...y-get-the-girl-to-do-it-of-katherine-johnson/ . I haven't heard the interview myself, as this is separate from the rest of the show, it of course is on the full show podcast too. But I wouldn't know where to tell you of what time in the podcast, that the interview either starts or ends. And glad that somebody took the time to also realize it as a podcast by itself. And I see that they get to talking about the realities that faced Katherine Johnson, and the rest of her colleagues. One good example in the movie Katherine Jackson faces of not having a close blacks only bathroom, and she has to go to the building that has the west group, to use the bathroom which is fictional, as it was Mary Jackson that had to face the problem. And of course in the movie it depicts that Al Harrison played by Kevin Costner notices, and then finally confronts her about it of every time he knows, she is not where she needs to be, and asks where the hell she goes everyday. Also if you look at the podcast, there is also a picture with Katherine Johnson with Janelle Monae, Taraji P. Henson, and Octavia Spencer backstage at the Oscars on February 26th, 2017 with Katherine Johnson seated which even if you don't listen to the podcast, take a look at the photo.
