DFW updates: KRLD-AM is back with HD and we get our first HD4

I noted a while ago that rimshot KZMP-FM 104.9 had turned on HD1 through HD4 channels. For a month or two the HD 1 was the only one with programming. Now all 4 have programming. They are all various channes from FunAsia. I'm impressed with how well this works. The sound quality on all 4 is quite good. The HD4 has very good stereo. I wish I could say that about some of the HD3 channels in this market on full power stations at the main antenna farm in the market.

Also a surprise: after being off for more than a year due to technical problems, KRLD-AM has resumed HD programming on 1080 AM. It joins KFLC-AM 1270 as the only AM HD stations in the market.

I hear KRLD up here nightly in Laramie, WY and I just noticed the HD Has over the weekend for the first time.

hdh hash from KNX ruins 1060 and 1080... HD Hash from KRLD ruins 1070 and 1090

HD Hash from KSL ruins 1150 and 1170.. HD Hash from KFAQ ruins 1160 and 1180

I've heard KFJZ up here too in Wyoming but not strong enough to get any hd hash/carrier

If it was dead and long gone, we wouldn't be talking about an FM adding 4 HD subchannels and an AM lighting up their HD signal.

Look, I get it.. believe me I do. I've long been critical of the way this was rolled out. It hasn't worked out the way stations wanted. But it is what it is.. and it does still exist. We're just talking about it here. That's all. You don't have to. That's fine too.

How can HD hash from stations a couple hundred or more miles away from you ruin an adjacent channel? The only time I've experienced adjacent channels being wrecked by HD IBOC was when a local 50KW station had it. Never from stations over 50 miles away. Might hear some rumbling, but its no worse than hearing splatter.

I cannot believe that people are STILL discussing this dead and long gone horse

If it were that long gone and dead, stations wouldn't have it on their FM signals. They apparently see a benefit of some sort. In my metro an LGBTQ channel is on an HD. I doubt they would have used an FM HD2 or HD3 if they didn't see a benefit in it. There was an Asian HD2 or HD3 here for a while as well. It only left when the FM station changed owners.
