With the spread of the Coronavirus, we should share cautionary precautions being employed at radio stations:
Are events and remotes being suspended, or other precautions taken in personal appearances?
Are staff members working from home? In particular, how do multi-person morning shows work together even if they are in separate locations?
How do sellers deal with calls on clients? Is more phone contacting or email correspondence being employed?
How about contest winners... are prizes being mailed, or is some kind of protection being given to the station staff and the listeners?
Is staff being encouraged to stay at home if they feel unwell? Big companies like Microsoft have already done this, of course.
And, of course, for the few stations that deliver news today: are reporters going out on the street, or are sources being pooled or even are stringers and listeners being asked to report stories?
How about packages and mail and UPS deliveries? Since the last report from the "gub'ment" says that the virus can live many hours on a surface, is mail being disinfected, or isolated, before opening?
File under: "An ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure".
