ABC News will air a podcast in relation to the COVID-19 SARS-II-Cov updates.

Wow what a sexy title.

I can hear Mel Allen saying it in my head, as he did on "This Week in Baseball" for years. I wonder if there are brief items at the end of each show called "Twiv Notes."

Back in my shortwave listening days, I recall a weekly feature on the Voice of Turkey with the catchy title of "Last Week in Turkey." Nothing attracts or excites a listener more than the knowledge that what he's about to hear is old news.

Update WAUK-AM Milwaukee has temporally flipped Sports/Talk for News/talk from SiriusXM over the COVID-19 updates.

540 ESPN becomes Doctor Radio and Coronavirus Radio to inform local community
MILWAUKEE, WIS. (April 20, 2020) – Good Karma Brands announces SiriusXM’s Doctor Radio (channel 110) and its public service channel 121, “Coronavirus: What You Need to Know” will now air on 540 ESPN (WAUK-AM), beginning today, Monday, April 20th, 2020. The programming change will preempt ESPN network programming until further notice.

540 AM will air Coronavirus Radio (channel 121) Tuesday through Saturday for continuous programming highlights from Doctor Radio’s ongoing coronavirus coverage. On Sunday and Monday, 540 AM will air Doctor Radio (channel 110) in its entirety.

“We can’t wait for live sports to resume and for the threat of the coronavirus to subside, but in the meantime, believe the health and well-being of our community is the top priority, as well as delivering relevant information to our audience,” said Steve Wexler, Good Karma Brands vice president and Milwaukee market manager.

And I didn't realize that either Karmazin had any stake in Sirius XM. Mel got the golden parachute when Liberty took control, IIRC. Now I wonder if the agreement allowed him or family members to bring SXM content to terrestrial radio. As BigA said, the legality of this seems dubious. Even if nobody is paying for the programming and Jim Meyer is just letting Mel's son's little AMs rebroadcast Doctor Radio out of the goodness of his heart, you still have satellite programming being made available to non-subscribers via terrestrial radio.

you still have satellite programming being made available to non-subscribers via terrestrial radio.

Which is the part that I believe is illegal...unless the AM station is strictly a booster to assist reception in tunnels or weak service areas.

BTW I don't know either Karmazin has any stake now in Sirius. But there is that unique connection.
