Very sad to learn of ARCH DEAL's passing on Friday, March 13th.
Arch, who had survived two serious parachute accidents succumbed after a dinnertime choking situation.
He is survived by three children; Doug, Diane and Michelle and his companion, Ruby Drash.
Condolences to the Deal family and to his colleagues from WTVT, WFLA and WLCY.

man, choking to death from your dinner is really a horrible way to go, RIP, my thought, prayers and condolences goes out to his family, friends and everyone else who knew him.

The irony of these stories is always heart-breaking........ CBS news correspondent Don Webster covered the Viet Nam war for several years -- risking death from enemy gunfire/bombing/capture on a daily basis...
He returned home.....and about 3 months after his arrival, he tripped on a kid's skate, fell downstairs.....and broke his neck...
He died instantly, IIRC....
To cheat Death.....then have it get you by the most bizarre means.....is a real gut-wrencher!!!:(

From today’s Tampa Bay Times (Sunday 03/15/2020)

Another irony is that both Arch Deal and his daughter Karen, both died from choking on food; daughter Karen was 51 at the time and was in a coma for a month before her death.

Arch Deal, longtime WFLA news anchor who survived parachute fall, dead at 88
Like his daughter, the musician Karen Deal, Mr. Deal died after choking on a piece of food, friends and family said.
