Talk about right place right time right circumstances when DXing!!

I was tuned to 880khz this morning at 5:58am mountain in Laramie, WY and heard some music bubbling under Rodney Zeigler's 50KW Blowtorch, KRVN 880 thats only about 350 miles away. Fast forward to 1 minute into this clip, listen and hear what I can now positively ID thanks to the other station running their legal ID at exactly the same time KRVN took 5 seconds to do it's pattern change.

Too bad that all the stations don't do that for us.
You need to send them both a reception report, and see what they say. Probably give some engineers a nice chuckle.

Sounds like the one from Cuba!

Great catch.

It's kwip WITH A MISIDENTIFIED TRANSLATOR.....k241cr i think it is.. became what is now K280gs which is KWIP's translator. the translator had a cp, it moved and the legal id didnt get updated

KRVN used to be notoriously slow with the pattern switch. Apparently they still are.

I've caught a few positive IDs during a more dominant station's pattern switch. I wrote about one a few months ago on the FOTW 620 thread. WTMJ was switching to night pattern and was off just long enough for WJDX sneak through with their TOH ID.

And even if what you heard was Oregon and not Cuba, that's still a fairly decent "consolation prize".
