March 2020 Kansas City ratings analysis

I'm not sure if this is a fluke or not, but all 3 country stations did very well. KFKF leaps to #2 in the market, WDAF enjoys their highest ratings in a long time, and KBEQ is back in the 5's. All at the same time. I expected the news/talk stations to spike and sports talk to tank due to the pandemic. I have noticed that KMJK has been skewing more Mainstream Urban as of late, resulting in a small increase. Too early to tell if the change will have an impact on KPRS. And I think it's time to do something else with KCJK. C'mon Cumulus, enough already. What a waste of a great signal. Let KRBZ have their 3 share and move on. There are some holes in this market that would generate more ratings and revenue. I just don't understand it. Not like KC needs a 4th Country station, and I'm surely not a fan of the Nash Icon brand, but it would be better than failing miserably as a bottom feeding alternative station. Rhythmic CHR maybe? Soft AC? How about blowing the station up and do some stunting with "Quarantine Radio 105.1" and play a bunch of uplifting, positive songs to attract attention for a while, then decide what to do when the economy rebounds.

What about Spanish music? Are there enough Hispanics to start an FM Spanish station? LOL

To entertain the idea, if they were going to do that I would consider moving 95.7 The Vibe to 105.1, which would give them better coverage to compete with KMXV, and put Spanish on 95.7. KCHZ 95.7 fades in and out east of 71 Hwy, but has a good signal in Wyandotte County and the westside of Kansas City, MO, where there is a higher Latino population. They would have to know how to sell it, though.
