What is going on with KBBT?

This is the lowest I have ever seen KBBT in the ratings. I listen online every now and then and they sound just OK, but they've sounded just OK for years and the ratings have been solid since 104.5 flipped to Spanish a few years back. But there's no excuse for #15 in the market and below a 3 share. They are cannibalizing their own station with KVBH on the air and their website is weak. Perhaps there are internal problems, too.

I suppose no one is willing to challenge them unless Top 40/Mainstream KXXM(owned by iHeartMedia) or KTFM(Alpha) decides to skew more Rhythmic. Cox's stations are already doing well, so there's no station to flip. Seems like KBBT is just sitting there stagnant and getting whatever ratings they have left by default. I think that Hip-hop fans in San Antonio have wanted somewhere else to go for a while now, but they've been stuck with The Beat. 15-20 years ago they were one of the best Rhythmic CHRs in the region with a loyal audience, not so anymore.

KTFM leaned more Rhythmic a year or so ago but dismal PPMs. Since moving back to Top 40, they've improved. Perhaps, SA is just exhausted of Hip Hop.

BTW, Univision has a buyer for it's radio/tv stations.

The beat isn't the only one. The box isn't doing so well in Houston either. Neither is The beat 93.7 in Houston.

HAMM is still there and was back then 15 years ago as far as I now. But Xavier moved to 107.5 so maybe that's why KBBT is so low? The listeners probably want a local morning show.

My question is, what in the world has happened to 98.5? They have went from a full staff to one live personality. When I was in San Antonio in October, they sounded like a jukebox. It was horrible.

2.8 is The Beat most recent PPM #16
Vibe and 95.1 Latino Mix also have a one man show while the rest is air line up is syndicated.

Did this happen before or after the pandemic?

The Beat lost most it's staff before the pandemic, as far as I know. The current live person hosting a show is HAMM there, and as for Vibe Xavier tha Freakin Rican has the morning show without any co-hosts.
Sidenote but that morning show was so much better when it was on KBBT, lots of guests and co-hosts the first few years.
