No, and they haven't been for years. It's only because the FCC has far bigger fish to fry right now and the and the lack of a complaint that they haven't lost the 5 licenses, IMO. I was last in Blythe on 2/29 and no stations.

I'm so sorry. There are the "Three B's" near me that I sincerely try to avoid: Blythe, Brawley and Barstow.

Barstow, at least, has a neat view of the rail yard if you get a rear facing window on the Holiday Inn Express. And there used to be a terrific "old west" style ranch restaurant NW of town a few miles.

If you bring binoculars watching the amazing logistics of the rail yard is fascinating. It is sort of a mechanical slow-motion ballet. I can just imagine Ferde Grofe writing a suite about the movement of the cars!

The next step down is Quartsite, AZ. At least they have cheap gas and the largest collection of aging manufactured homes on this planet and several adjacent ones.

Brawley can be quite entertaining on a hot Saturday evening. Even better if you are fast on your feet. Even better if you are driving a beater with a reliable engine.

Yes! A long train at one end feeding into many tracks and the cars slowly being routed into their new engines. Kind of like watching the cars feed into a major border crossing on a weekend morning. And to think they used to do this all by hand.

The major difference between the Arizona side and California side gas prices are the higher CA taxes. We always gassed up the RV on the AZ side. As for manufactured/mobile homes......there was an investigation some years back that CA was dumping their rejects on the AZ side of the border because Arizona's inspection was not as stringent as California's. Used to have big sales lots just feet from the bridge separating the two states. I haven't driven I-10 to CA for a number of years now so unsure if those big lots still exist.

....and now back to our program.

Update...the licenses for the Blythe stations have all been canceled. It was worth noting that even the stations themselves used to broadcast from Cunningham Peak on the Arizona side of the Colorado River (near Quartzsite). They avoided Blythe too.

Could it be that the cable/satellite companies have their hands in the FCC's pockets? I was in Blythe a number of years ago and I saw a lady in a booth at a gas station watching KTLA.
What about repeater stations?
