WTFX 100.5 The Fox circa Nov 2001

I've been digitizing old cassettes while I'm stuck at home working and found an aircheck from WTFX 100.5 The Fox circa November 2001. I think I captured this off an internet stream. Things I've heard that no longer exist or seem weird:
1. WWF (It's now the WWE)
2. Louisville Garden (Christmas Chaos wrestling event advertised for that venue)
3. Creed (at Freedom Hall)
4. Phoenix Hill Tavern
5. Bob & Tom Show on The Fox - pre Howard Stern and I guess Rocky and Troy were still on QMF at this time. Does that mean Lex & Terry were on SFR?
6. Music direction/playlists for rock stations has changed very little in over 20 years. Don't get me started on Classic Rock stations.

I’m not sure who was on in the morning but the recording has Bob & Tom sweepers playing during the stop set. I only recall Howard Stern myself. I say 2001 based upon events advertised in the recording and that would play along with the fact that I never came here until late 2000 and that was intermittently. I married a girl from here but we lived in Savannah at that time. So the recording could be from that time.

We lost Bob and Tom in the summer of 97, right before the KY state fair. We had just sent listeners in a limo to the KY State reformatory for an execution (not the listeners' execution). Anyway, the limo driver got busted for possession before coming back to Louisville. The first day Bob and Tom were on SFR they were talking about OUR promotion and even apologized for leaving the fox. Christi Lee did the apologizing, I believe. The promotion, btw, was called the KY Fried Weekend. Not to be confused with our Red, White and Blue Movies weekends that we did for July 4th. But I digress...

I'm guessing my recording was sourced from the internet stream; wonder if the sweepers were just old. I can't imagine that I EVEN knew of the The Fox in 1997. I was living in Dothan, AL at that time.

As usual, Craven gives a reliable history. When I started at WSFR in May, 1999, Bob and Tom had already been on the station for a couple of years.

But Clear Channel bought AM/FM, which owned WFBQ, which owned Bob and Tom. And we got the notice sometime in late 1999 or early 2000 that CC wasn't going to renew our Bob and Tom contract. I want to say SFR lost Bob and Tom around September, 2000. (They gave us maybe 6 months notice.)

Lex and Terry didn't go over well at all and lasted maybe 6 months.

Bob And Tom suck Lex and Terry suck worse so stick with tried and true live and local. As the old saying goes if you build it they will come. So build away morning Louisville radio
