That being said, they’ve been there before—Katie Perry, Adele and such at points in their run. Less of a linear path in time, a la WOGL, and more of periodic zig zags all over the place.
As Abraham said they've been there before with 2000's. I would say they were playing more 90's & 2000's up until ogl started saying nobody plays more 80's. For some reason that was a trigger for them to take on OGL. So they went back heavy on 80's, slimmed down on 90's and really slimmed down on 2000's.
I’ve always thought of the Adult Hits format as “Classic Hot AC”, or perhaps what Hot AC would’ve sounded like back in the day. My local station plays a few songs from 5-10 years ago and they were all BIG Hot AC hits (“Ho Hey”, “Firework”, no shortage of Bruno Mars). So, this add makes sense to me.
