Are you referring to the guy in the middle? If so, that's not the guy (even age-adjusted) that I recall as WLVL's "Dave Quinn". This is waaaaaay back in my memory, so there could be some lapses in accuracy... but I'm of the belief that the guy's real first name was "Dave"... the last name of "Quinn" (so he told me) was in honor of early VJ Martha Quinn.
 
Tom Langmyer is indeed the gentleman in the middle. He may not be tall, but he looms large in the radio industry.
 
LOL. OK, I'm kinda laughing at myself... cuz apparently the "Dave Quinn" mystery got the better of me. Folks, I present to you one time WLVL guy, Dave Quinn...

His last name is NOT Quinn. But I'm not sure if it's appropriate to spill his real name here... especially since it appears he continues to use the "Quinn" thing. It appears that he has done reasonably well in the radio-ish business (no surprise to me). Does he ring any bells for anyone here?

The Great Gold format started, I believe, in the spring of 1983. Hank Nevins resigned from WLVL in autumn of 1983. Later on, he was PD of both WBEN and WMJQ. Later he worked as PD of the rebooted WKBW for a spell.

I don't recall how long Great Gold lasted at WLVL. After that, the station went through many incarnations, IIRC.

WUSJ/WLVL,WJJL, WHLD and WXRL/WMMJF due to their proximity to Buffalo, both served as career stepping stones for many radio broadcasters in WNY. For people who didn't mind a longer commute, there was also WDOE/Dunkirk, WBUZ/Fredonia(remember Buzz?), WCJW/Warsaw and of course, right in suburban Buffalo you had WNIA(long air shifts, standard fake air names and minimum wage).

Yep. Thank you! Wasn't certain from your comment if the DQ you referenced was for certain the same DQ.
