WCLT-FM Adds Big D & Bubba For Mornings

https://radioinsight.com/headlines/187103/wclt-fm-adds-big-d-bubba-for-mornings/

T-100 (WCLT-FM 100.3) “Your Hometown Country Station” in Columbus OH has announced Big D and Bubba as their new morning show beginning Monday, May 11th. The show will air on T-100 and all digital streaming platforms from 5am-10am weekdays and 6am-10am on Saturdays with an entertaining, family-oriented broadcast.

Big D and Bubba join the T-100 lineup with an extensive resume including nominations as Broadcast Personalities of the Year from the Country Music Association four times, winning the award twice. “We are so excited to bring our show to Central Ohio”, says Big D. “Our show is like eavesdropping on your brother and his best friend getting in and out of trouble”.

Former morning show host Wild Walley will continue his role as program director as his show moves to weekday afternoons from 3pm-7pm.

Show starts today.

Slowly moving away from being "local" to another station plugged into the voice track machine. They already run a syndicated show at nights (Big Time with Whitney Allen)

And, other than news, how many local entertainment shows do you TV stations have in your market?

Wild Walley moves to afternoons. This is one station that's been locally owned by the same family for decades, and even being rim-shot distance from Columbus, serves Newark and Southeast Ohio.

The assumption that small local stations would never do this is obviously untrue.

Small, local stations are losing their ass in the Covid economic crisis. Advertising and station income have plummeted suddenly yet bills to local station owners are still coming in. Easy to bitch about the change when you're not the one footing the bills.

Fine that they decide to be voice tracked in the mornings with Big D and Bubba but do not pretend it is your local morning show.... Tell the listeners the truth don't say your "local radio" when your plugged into a show from out of market. Apparently they have the money to buy tons of ads on the Columbus, OH tv stations "advertising" their new morning show on multiple TV stations.

I get times are tough and I get business decisions have to be made but I really don't agree with folks not being honest in their decisions.

I am sure the other locally owned country station in Newark 107.7 owned by the folks at WNKO is going to use this opportunity to play up being "local" (yes I know 107.7 also heavily uses automation).

Hopefully things work out for them with this decision, all the best to them.

Big D & Bubba is not voice tracked. It's live from Nashville. They are very clear and open that they originate from Nashville and not Licking County.
