Cable News Channel "Swear Jar"?

Are fines being racked up by CNN and the like when some rando during protests or other live events get within proximity of the mics and throws out F-bombs, or do they get a waiver because it's not their fault some randos don't have a filter?

LOL FCC has no jurisidiction over a cable channel, as they dont have a license and cant fine them.
 
It was funny because the very formal Brian Williams could hear the words in his earpiece and apologized to the audience for the language in a most Brian Williams sort of way.

There is a case when the FCC can fine them. That's when RF is leaking from cable and causing interference.

But, yeah, not for content.

I saw a quick video from CNN earlier on day that made it appear it was for both but they could have interpreted it wrong or I did but I figured CNN wouldn’t try and twist it to make it look any worse. In that case Reporting fake news might get fined but you never know
 
Cable networks don't get fined they will apologize for the swear words. On local broadcast, they can get fined for swear words since a lot of cities have had protest & riots in Grand Rapids was a lot of swear words on the building walls along with looting and fires last night in downtown GR all local TV newscasters apologize for what was on the buildings last night many times. I hope that FCC doesn't fine the TV stations since they have no control what was said on the walls.

There were some swear words on posters during live coverage of a protest in Mobile, too. The camera operator quickly panned away from it but it made it on TV a few times.

Used to be, "fleeting expletives" during live shows like this were always given a pass because it was beyond the broadcaster's control. But the indecency crackdown after Nipplegate means it's possible they could get fined anyway. It's so stupid. Public airwaves or not, it's news, and they shouldn't expect us all to experience dumbed-down and censored stuff just to please a few nattering nabobs of negativism.
