Is it weird that 60 Minutes is not airing tonight?

Because Titanic took the 7:00 PM timeslot. I believe it's only for this week?

EDIT: I believe it's only for this week. It's due to the film's runtime (although it's the TV Edited version).

Yeah I know. Meant to say it's odd.

Same thing, I'd say.

I would agree that it's unusual to pre-empt it for a movie that's been shown on TV as many times as "Titanic" has. Is "Titanic" still a movie that people want to see over and over and over, even though it's 22+ years old? Is a showing good for a viewership surge the way showings of "The Wizard of Oz" are?

Hopefully they were paying attention when they said in effect, "We're taking the holiday weekend off, and will be back in two weeks". They will be making up for lost time. This next Sunday's 60 Minutes, will be 90 minutes!

Pure fantasy here. When you take a long holiday weekend, does your boss require you to put in overtime on the day you return?

I wonder if the CBS switchboard was lit up shortly after 7 ET by disgruntled older viewers asking "Where's my 60 Minutes?"

If any calls were made, they were likely to the local affiliate. Ordinary viewers don't call network headquarters when the station they know only as "Channel 2" or "Channel 5" shows something unexpected. In any case, I doubt switchboards anywhere "lit up" (What? No "like a Christmas tree?") over this. No nudity, bad language or comments that would be an excuse for manufactured outrage were involved here. I'd guess with reasonable certainty that 99 percent -- plus -- of the viewers who were expecting "60 Minutes" either found something else to watch or watched the movie.

If they had decided to keep 60 Minutes and air it 8-12, viewers would’ve been howling over the pre-emption of local news. Obviously that was a non-starter. Affiliates can’t lose their local time.

Ruth Buzzi hit the dirty old man with her purse. I'm hoping at some point I can find a way to put my aunt's performance of that role online.

This isn't the Heidi game Raiders VS Jets in 69 NBC has the Heidi phone they got a lot of complaints about that big mistake.
