KLOS 95.5

Today, without The Sound, KLOS still has around 2.5 shares (prior to Covid).

They were closing in on a 3 share, and KLOS will become the default station for a good portion of the folks disenchanted with KROQ's new direction.

I also don't accept for a second that all the air will escape from the KLOS balloon once listening habits return to normal. I think some of the disruption to listening habits will prove to be permanent. Time will tell if my prediction comes true.

They blew past a 3 share and went up to almost a 4 share last month. I have to believe KROQ migration was a factor.

I would think that naturally some of those listeners would have also gone to Jack?

The overall radio universe has been older and more male too during this pandemic. It'll probably start migrating back as more people are out and about.

Funny- I don't know if it was a deliberate move, but I've noticed K-Earth playing more 70s and little to no 90s lately.

The air had escaped before the pandemic.

KLOS was averaging 11,400 25-54 AQH persons in Jan & Feb. Back in August to October, they were in the 15,000 average range. In May they were just over 9,000.

By January and February, they had gone below the 2019 average by a significant amount, so this is not a pandemic issue. They are losing audience.

Looking at share when the denominator has changed does not provide an accurate evaluation.

Of course, every year in the PPM markets the updated population and ethnic composition core data is updated, including the division of Hispanics by language dominance. That introduces a new variable that may account for some change in a variety of stations.

4% of a lowered PUR is actually a loss.

Stop all this format flip talk. Everybody is making cuts due to COVID crash.

KLOS did a 3.9 in May 6+, a 3.4 in April. Sure that's a bigger piece of a smaller pie, but still, that's their best numbers in years.
No format flip is going to get better numbers or more revenue, so stop all this silly talk of the Sound.
I will say, they lost any celebrity cool factor when they dumped Jonesy's Jukebox. Don't believe he left voluntarily.

But dang Alex Meruello is biting it this year. He's invested in a radio cluster, a hotel/casino AND a hockey team.

David, I don't disagree with you about these stats.
The new management enacted significant programming changes in the music and the lineup, and we are seeing the results.
Their goal was to beat JACK, and as it turns out the KLOS core doesn't want to hear TOTO and Modern English.
Dropping thier most distinctive personalities was also not a wise move.
