Arnie Ginsberg

UPDATE ON ARNIE “WOO-WOO” GINSBURG
written by Eric Taubert June 20, 2020
Arnie Ginsburg - Ogunquit, Maine
NOTE: The local reports circulating on Saturday, June 20th that Arnie “Woo-Woo” Ginsburg had passed away were mistaken.

According to a Facebook post by Carlos Alberto Vega in response to the original news on the Perkins Cove Facebook Page: “The news is a bit premature. Arnie is most likely in his last days, but he hasn´t died. We are both in our home in Framingham MA and although he is extremely weak (and almost non responsive) and the prognosis is that he will not live much longer, he is not yet gone. You can email or messenger me for more details if you would like. Not sure where the premature notice came from.“

We will update this page with more information as it becomes available

There's a local group on Facebook called Perkins Cove (part of Ogunquit) and a post was made by the group administrator saying "Last night we lost a legend" alleging Arnie had died. There was a link to an article in Ogunquit Barometer, an online publication, saying something like "We're going to miss him around here".That article quickly disappeared...

...but another FB group, Remembering WMEX I believe, linked to the Perkins Cove facebook.I tried to read Ogunquit Barometer article but again, it had disappeared and searches on the Barometer's site and own Facebook group turned up nothing. Neither did searches elsewhere saying Arnie had passed. The Perkins Cove group admin later apologized, saying he'd gotten inaccurate info..and the clarification was he is
still alive but very ill and may not last much longer.

The Barometer article linked above now has the correction. There is a bit below all that with what
seems to be part of original, saying how they used to see Arnie walk his dog etc What I saw briefly before it got pulled had added "We're going to miss him around here".That part is now gone.

I know the moderators move any death notice type posts to the black hole known as In Memoriam , so i am going to slide this in here, James Samprakos, better known as The Famous Jim Sands has transitioned to that big studio in the sky in the past couple of days.

I was also heartbroken to hear that Gretchen Rossi, wife of the late WRKO news guy and Boston legend Bill Rossi passed away last fall, you may know her better by her radio name Hillary Stevens, which was a combination of her daughters and sons name.

RadioInk:
"Later in his career he was EVP of Pyramid Broadcasting, which owned WXKS (Kiss 108 FM)." [executive vice president]
May have been prog dir at WXKS AM 1430/standards

RadioAndMusicPros:
"In 1979 Ginsburg moved into management, working with Richie Balsbaugh and Sunny Joe White as EVP of Pyramid Broadcasting, part of the team that flipped WWEL to WXKS (Kiss 108) at the beginning of the disco era. "
