I'm trying to get on their website, but it says that a database error has occurred for every single page. Did they shut down for good?

Yes, almost exactly one year ago:

Now I'm getting:

There doesn’t appear to be much left of NextRadio and TagStation at this point, according to observers. In early January, the NextRadio website remained active but told visitors that the app had been removed from iTunes and that NextRadio would no longer provide support for live radio streams.
The businesses detailed cuts in personnel and services in a press release in mid-December: “After exploring several alternatives, we have made the difficult decision to dramatically reduce the scope and scale of our operations, which includes the termination of 35 employees of these businesses. NextRadio and TagStation employees that were separated were given generous severance packages.”
Yes it shut down last year. Emmis Radio pulled the financing, and no one else stepped up. Read this story:

The FM radio tuner is mobile phones used the headphone cord as the antenna. With everyone switching from corded earbuds to wireless AirPods and most new smartphones not even having a headphone jack anymore, there is no more way to provide an FM antenna.
My own cheapo LG smartphone has a headphone jack and a chipset that is capable of providing an FM radio tuner, but for some reason it was disabled in the firmware.
Very simple reason - force you to enjoy your programming by using data, rather than free off-air programming. The services like Verizon had been disabling FM in phones that had it for whatever reason. I was surprised that it was actually in the Motorola phone I bought about a year ago, but it wasn't through NextRadio.
