Lets Make A Deal Question

I'm wondering something about the old "Lets Make A Deal" With Monty Hall where Jay Stewart was the announcer

He often brings items or prize down on a tray he carries to contestants and will read briefly mention those items about to be priced or will, while still standing there, will talk about prizes behind boxes or curtains.

Wheres the copy that hes reading? I ca't imagine he remembers everything because he will often talk about several things while standing there with Monty and the contestants.

Is the copy on 3x5 cards he's hidden well somewhere? I never see any evidence of something on his person.

Or is he reading cue cards off stage??

TelePrompter? They had Teleprompters in the 70s. If he looks into the camera, the script is just above the lens.

The thing about those on-camera appearances is he gets paid extra for those. It's in the union contract.

Not clearly related, but the current show is pretty clean and funny today, though like TPIR they are deep into reruns for obvious reasons. The humor is quite different, ala early Letterman. Sometimes over the top, but that makes this old dog fight. I hope both cbs gameshows can survive this.
