WENK/WTPR

I see from looking at their website that WENK/WTPR is now owned by Forever Communications. Could this mean that Union City's mayor-for-life Terry Hailey could soon be retiring? He has been at WENK since 1967.

Probably not of interest to anyone but me, but I see (from looking at his Facebook page) that Hailey has indeed finally retired from WENK. His photo no longer appears on their website.

Evidently, he is still mayor of Union City; has been for about 30 years now! Wonder how long until he retires from the mayor's office as well?

For a daytime-only station, WTPR AM was still cranking out the hits at 710 on the dial around 10:00 p.m. last night, Saturday 6/13/20.

WTPR AM is licensed as a daytime-only station. Apparently, FCC rules mean nothing these days.
This might explain why I no longer hear the WENK/WTPR simulcast these days when I listen to WENK online. I'm guessing that WTPR still simulcasts with their FM sister station.

When you mentioned about them being on the air at 10:00 p.m. a couple of weeks ago, I took that to mean that they were on LIVE at that time. Otherwise, I would have expected some form of automation or voice-tracking to take over by that time.

For whatever reason, WTPR no longer simulcasts WENK in Union City. This change was made several months ago. 710 AM and 101.7 FM are branded as "The Greatest Hits of All Time" in the Paris area.

WTPR AM in Paris is supposed to sign-off at night. The license is only for daytime.

I see online streaming for WENK, but not for WTPR.
