Are there stations that play both black and Southern (white, overwhelmingly if not exclusively) gospel music? I'm not talking about specialty programming on a college or other noncommercial station. I mean a station -- either commercial or noncommercial -- that has both genres in its everyday rotation.
The closest thing out there is the Oasis Radio Network based out of Broken Arrow, OK-Tulsa, OK. Their rotation is equivalent to that of Sounds Of Faith but they play more black gospel artists that SOF does. They play more southern gospel than SOF. Most of the rotation is southern gospel, but they have CCM artists, bluegrass gospel, Christian Country, Christian Jazz, Classical Worship vocals & instrumentals, non-jazz instrumentals, Spanish Christian artists, and black gospel artists mixed in as well.
The black gospel artists they play consist of: Albertina Walker, Andrae Crouch, the Winans artists (Angie Winans? (Not quite sure), BeBe & CeCe, Marvin L. Winans, Sr., Mom & Pop Winans, The Winans (actual group), & Vickie Winans (No, Winans Phase 2 is not included in the rotation)), Charles Johnson & The Revivers, Commissioned, Dannibelle Hall, Deleon Richards, Donald Lawrence? (Not quite sure), Donnie McClurkin? (Not quite sure), Dorothy Norwood, Dottie Peoples, Fred Hammond, GMWA Women of Worship, Lee Williams & the Spiritual QCs, Marvin Sapp, Norman Hutchins, Oleta Adams (just her song titled "Holy is the Lamb"), Richard Smallwood, Shekinah Glory Ministry, Shirley Caesar, Tamela & David Mann, The Canton Spirituals, The Continentals, Tramaine Hawkins, Yolanda Adams, and other artists similar to them. The reason why I say that I'm not quite sure on some of the artists I mentioned is because I don't remember seeing them show up in the playlist during times I've listened to the station in the past. They may be in the playlist. I'm not sure. I don't remember.
The Christian Country artists they play consist of: Glen Campbell, Jimmie Davis, Paul Overstreet, and Randy Travis just to name a few.
They play crossover standards artists such as Jimmy Durante & Perry Como. The Spanish Christian artists they play consist of Jesus Adrian Romero & Marcos Witt just to name a few. When they play Spanish Christian songs, they do indeed play them in Spanish. The only way you can tell that they haven't flipped to all Spanish Christian programming is if you follow along in the playlists which can be found at
https://www.oasisnetwork.org/index.php/song-finder. They post playlists for each day on the website as far as 1 week in advance and they keep the playlists for each day going as far back to 2 months old. You can listen to The Oasis Network online at
http://www.oasisnetwork.org/ as well as on the TuneIn app. The Oasis Network makes a great alternative to Sounds Of Faith and like SOF, they are non-profit. The only disadvantages for The Oasis Network are: they have a Christian talk block during the midday workday shift 10AM-3PM Eastern/9AM-2PM Central Mon.-Fri. & overnights 2AM-6AM Eastern/1AM-5AM Central Mon.-Fri.; they do sharathons multiple times a year; and they only play Christmas music on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day unlike SOF, who usually plays Christmas music all December long all the way to New Year's. When The Oasis Network does their Christian talk blocks, all the ministers they play do everything in English. SOF is the only Internet Christian radio station in the U.S. that never does sharathons. SOF, like The Oasis Network, doesn't play commercials. The Oasis Network, however, does play underwriting announcements & vignettes. Lately, I've been listening to The Oasis Network because SOF is in a coma. I say the word "coma" because even though their stream doesn't work right now, the website at SoundsOfFaith.net is still up. The folks at SOF have been searching for a new streaming server to launch a new stream off of, but COVID-19 has gotten in the way, causing them to hold off on the streaming server search. The SOF people have until 2/14/2021 (Valentine's Day) to search for a new streaming server because if they don't find one by then, Wix.com, who hosts SoundsOfFaith.net, will be forced to shut it down. I remember the website & stream being shut down throughout most of 2018 from February to October of that year. It was no fun.
