More Conservative Talk in ABQ

Salem Radio Network has announced that KXKS will carry the full Salem Talk lineup as, "The Answer Albuquerque, AM 1190". KXKS has been simulcasting KKIM programming for some time. Both stations are owned by Wilkins Radio. The 24 watt night signal on 1190 doesn't cover a share of the metro area with the transmitter down near the airport. Meanwhile, KDAZ which has recently carried much of the Salem Talk schedule has been revamped with a new line up including Jay Sekulow, Jesse Kelly, Markley, Van Camp & Robbins, Guy Benson, Lars Larson, Dan Bongino, Joe Pags and inspirational programming overnight with the moniker, "Conservative Talk ABQ". Frank Haley and Larry Ahrens still host the 7 AM hour locally.

Right now 1190 is still simulcasting 1000. So now you'll have KDAZ, KIVA and soon KXKS all going after KKOB which had been averaging in the upper 3s and low 4s before the pandemic brought their numbers up again.

But is there really a lot of money in conservative talk for all of these stations?

Wilkins Radio has turned on the switch to Salem Talk on 1190 ending the simulcast of 1000 AM. Meanwhile, KDAZ has filed to lower power even further to 450 w. day/ 55w. night with the frequency change to 700 kHz. The 96.9 translator should give decent coverage to the ABQ metro with the power increase.
