According to most every MST3K source, the actual premiere movie featured on MST3K was, "Invaders from the Deep," from 1981 NOT "Thunderbirds in Space". Do you think the newspaper made a typo?

I believe so. Sorry, but the papers did not list KITN as a FOX station (though it aired FOX programming). In contrast, the Boston Globe, DID list WFXT as a FOX station at the time. I guess that was a mistake on my part for being largely ignorant of the label.

By 1988, KMSP was one of several Fox affiliates nationwide that were disappointed with the network's weak programming offerings, particularly on Saturday nights, which were bogging down KMSP's otherwise successful independent lineup. That January, channel 9 dropped Fox's Saturday night lineup;[39] the move did not sit well with Fox, and in July 1988 the network announced that it would not renew its affiliations with KMSP and Chris-Craft sister station KPTV in Portland, Oregon.[40] Fox then signed an agreement with KITN (channel 29, now WFTC) to become its new Twin Cities affiliate, and KMSP reverted to being an independent station full-time

Don't worry it wasn't really clear Fox was a network in 1988 anyway. I remember Hal Erickson's "Syndicated Television" book from 1989 includes early Fox shows, and considering how few days it was actually on it was closer to Operation Prime Time than the "Big Three".
BTW, did the listings for the "All American Parade" include the host cities? And when did CBS just switch to airing the NYC parade on Thanksgiving?
