"Patriots Monday" on EEI

For years the EEI morning show during football season--whether D&C, K&C, or GH--has included a "Patriots Monday" interview with the starting QB.

With limited exceptions (his 2008 injury & 2016 4-game "Deflategate" suspension) Tom Brady would field questions from the EEI morning hosts.

So now we're in the post-Brady era.

Guess who the Pats served up for this morning's interview?

Cam Newton?

Nope.

Jarrett Stidham?

Nope.

Brian Hoyer (who managed to work in Belichick's patented "it is what it is" responding to several questions).

That's what EEI commands, folks.

Brian Hoyer.

The Patriots rarely do dumb things.

The Bengals incident last year was dumb.

TB12 was the starting QB without doubt other than his first year.

Why would the Patriots put either Stidham or Cam in an awkward position on the radio right now ?

Let them work things out in camp and Brian the experienced vet can handle radio right now.

Maybe, but do you really think EEI is happy about getting Hoyer?

I suspect that the weekly Brady interview (which rarely broke anything new) gave the morning show a big ratings burst.

Newton would do likewise.

Nothing against Brian Hoyer, who seemed like a good sport.

But how many folks will set their watches to catch Hoyer's insights?

Sure. (That's a mighty big "if!")

I'm just saying that booking a veteran quarterback as a guest on a sports talk show is not a bad booking and doesn't make the station look bad.

Especially given all of the discussion taking place about replacing Brady. Anyone who has a shot at that job is a good interview.
