The management of WSHU-91.1, the NPR station in Fairfield operated by Sacred Heart University, has announced to its listeners that their FY 2020 budget deficit, compounded by the impact of the pandemic on their fundraising, has led them to institute salary decreases for staff and a hiring freeze. They will also end their broadcast agreement with WQQQ-103.3 in Sharon, which serves Litchfield County, in January 2021. WQQQ has been simulcasting WSHU since 2011. WSHU says WQQQ listeners will be able to pick up WSHU programming from the WSHU app, www.wshu.org, or a smart speaker.
