AM Frequency of the week: 610

from Mt Juliet TN -

WRUS, Russellville, KY -daytime only
Nothing that can be identiified at night

Years ago, passing through Birmingham on the way to Florida - WSGN

From NW San Antonio:

Day: KILT with a moderate signal.

Sunset: KCSP starts to mix in with KILT, as does XESORN "Viva Saltillo Radio."

Night: It's a mix of KILT, KCSP, XESORN, and XEGS in Guasuave.

Sunrise: WAGG in Birmingham comes up weakly for a bit after it goes to day power. XESORN is stronger when it goes to day power later on and messes with KILT until skywave is gone.

DX/Retro: I've heard Radio Rebelde once on this frequency. Also, I used to hear a weak XEBX in Sabinas under/mixing with KILT during daytime before it retired.

That is a good catch!

I've heard WIOD only once in the northeast over the years I tried in two locations far enough away from WIP which is on the same frequency.

Never heard WIOD down at the shore but the one time I did was up in Bethlehem, Pa. where it overpowered WIP.

Nice! I would think you'd have to get far enough from Philly and out of WIP's directional pattern to get WIOD in the northeast.
I used to be able to hear WIP in the Chicago area at night years ago before all the noise and clutter.

I don't think I've heard WIP (or whatever it is now) for at least 20-30 years. But, yep, once in a while I'd hear it back in the 60s and 70s. These days it's usually KCSP on 610, but a few times I was hearing KDAL from Duluth sneak in. I'm guessing they were either running 5kw ND Day power or perhaps 1.25kw on STA.

I remember occasionally hearing WIP when I lived in Toledo, during critical hours and before WTVN switched to its night pattern. The rest of the time, it's all WTVN up there, granted with some cancellation at night.
Also have heard KCSP a handful of times in the Cincinnati area.

KCSP gets in here often. Have not heard WDAL here yet.

I probably should have made clear that my hearing KDAL was on an occasional basis over a two or three week period. They've been completely absent for me for the past several months. That said,I'd guess that KDAL might be occasionally doable around sunset. After WTVN powers down and before the sun sets in Kansas City. Their day signal gets out pretty well considering the poor ground conductivity in the area.
