WAY-FM has a new translator in Jackson

It's been a few weeks now, but WAY-FM finally has a new translator in Jackson on 89.3. This is something I've been praying for for years. They had a CP in the early 2000's but they sold it off instead. Thank you WAY-FM for finally coming to Jackson!​

They had translators in Dyersburg and Union City and got as far as CPs in Jackson and Martin in the early 2000's but sold them all off to Thunderbolt except for the CP in Jackson, which was sold to Forever. I think the reasoning was the dominance of K-LOVE and Air 1 in West TN at the time, but I guess that's changed now.

Let's see, you live in Alamo, right? I don't know what WAY-FM had going in Jackson back about the time of Y2K with that CP, but depending on the exact location, you might not have been able to pick it up, either.

I remember when WAY-FM had the translator in UC, they gave the temp there during one of their forecasts. I really never understood why they went to all the trouble to get a translator in UC, only to sell it to Thunderbolt. I see that WENK even has a translator in UC now, something that they apparently never had during the Hailey days. It took selling them to Forever to get them into the 21st century.

I see from looking at Radio-Locator that UC has a CCM presence there, but not sure if that was a factor behind WAY-FM pulling out of n.w. TN.

The earlier CP was for 94.1 and it was sold to Forever. I could barely get that one at home in my car.

This isn't definite, but I think they sold the translators and CPs in West TN at about the same time that K-LOVE moved from 94.9 in Ripley to a stromger signal on 90.7 in Dyersburg, and changed 89.9 in Union City to Air 1, which was around 2006 0r 2007.

I guess it's possible that Thunderbolt made WAY-FM an offer they couldn't refuse in their effort to go translator crazy, but that wsa at about the same time so I think the changes at K-LOVE may have been a factor.
