Carton Returning to WFAN?

I would also expect him to be syndicated to other Entercom sports stations in some way, such as on WIP in Philadelphia, and maybe even syndicated outside of Entercom.

The ongoing drama behind what’s been heralded as the “imminent return” of Craig Carton to Entercom sports “The Fan” WFAN-AM/FM New York (660/101.9) continues to play out in the New York Post. The latest twist has station brass trying, unsuccessfully, to persuade Bart Scott to leave crosstown rival “ESPN NY 98.7” WEPN-FM and sign-on as Carton’s co-host for a new afternoon show.

Scott bolted from “The Fan” in December 2019 after Mike Francesa decided to return to afternoons, thus relocating and eventually busting up the “CMB Show” comprised of Chris Carlin, Maggie Gray and Scott. As WFAN re-worked its lineup, Scott took a deal at “ESPN NY 98.7,” where he hosts the “Bart & Hahn” show (11am-1pm) with Alan Hahn. Carlin is also with WEPN-FM hosting evenings, while Gray remains in middays at “The Fan” with Marc Malusis.

Sources tell the Post’s Andrew Marchand that Scott was “heavily recruited” by Entercom Senior VP/Market Manager Chris Oliviero and a deal “was close to happening.”

Here is talks on the issue.

Depends on your POV. Carton is popular in both cities. Why shouldn't he be available to audiences in both places? It worked for Stern.

Because he's a fraudster who doesn't deserve celebrity status. It reflects an appalling lack of ethics and lack of respect for decency on the part of the company that hires and promotes a guy like that.

There's countless guys out there who can talk sports and there's nothing special about Carton. Hire one of the talented radio people who just got laid off from Covid. Put some effort into it instead of picking the low hanging fruit every time.

He was already a polarizing host, now he adds conman to his reputation. Who wants to support someone like that? Guys like that don't change.

I predict it will end poorly one way or another, maybe then he'll be done for good.

We'll see soon enough.
