Estrella Media sells KZMP-FM 104.9

Estrella Media is selling KZMP-FM 104.9, but the station should remain FunAsia Radio, as the LMA group is making the purchase.

First item here: https://radioinsight.com/headlines/199675/station-sales-week-of-10-16/

Apparently KZMP 1540 is not part of the sale. Has that been an FM simulcast since the demise of ESPN Deportes? Estrella Media just recently agreed to sell KMPX/29 to TEGNA, which will move (or simulcast) WFAA/8 on that signal.

Looks like the creditors that wound up with what was the bankrupt Liberman Broadcasting are now getting some of their money back. Keep an eye out for further divestitures, plus a possible change on 1540.

KZMP 1540 is a simulcast of La Ranchera 106.7 KZZA Muenster,

I've herard KZMP 1540 up here in Laramie, WY before sunset fairly regularly. The transmitter and array were tuned up a few months ago by Hatfield-Dawson engineering .... and its been even better since

I can tell you this: EMF will get it and turn it into K-Love or Air1.

They don't buy AMs; if one comes with an FM they want, they get rid of it almost immediately. The FM was already sold, and the AM is a dog. The FM is far from being one of the better rimshots, too.

Plus, they can not have a "K-Love" in Dallas-Ft Worth.

What does Klove have anything to do with this? I'm slightly confused. KZMP 1540 is simulcasting an FM and has better coverage, by day of some of the market than the FM.

\Any AM's EMF ended up with used by Radio Nueva Vida or sold to independent commercial oeprators (Greenville, PA: EMF got 3 stations, an FM and 2 AMs.. they only wanted the FM, but had to take itall.. they sold the AMs to Joe Vilkie)

If FunAsia had any interest in 1540 for supposedly better coverage, they would have purchased it. I doubt the South Asian target audience has any interest in AM radio. Here in Houston, the four fulltime South Asian broadcasters are on FM translators, three fed by HD and one by an irrelevant AM.

I suspect Estrella Media is very eager to dump 1540, which is probably headed for (once again) Spanish language religion (can never have too much of that on AM, apparently) or brokered ethnic. Third option is the scrap heap.
