KMOH Channel 6 and KEJR Channel 40 Sold

HC2 Stations Group is selling them and two stations in Texas to Weigel Broadcasting Co. of Chicago, dba "TV-49, Inc." No indication of what Weigel will do with the stations.

Weigel's strategy is to get MeTV "Must Carry" satellite coverage with their rimshot buys. And will also fit the rest of their networks on the .2, .3, etc. I'm a bit surprised they didn't buy KAZT outright.

When they did it in Denver, it was at the expense of over the air viewers in the metropolitan area. KAZT's low power signal in Phoenix is a bit better than KEJR's, so they may lose a few OTA viewers.

A decade ago that would have made sense, but now? The satellite companies' best days are long in the past, and might be gone by 2030 (AT&T has already said so). Cox already carries MeTV, but they need to be on the streaming services. Hulu+ and YouTube TV are more important in 2020 than DirecTV and Dish.

Neither is viewable in the outer suburbs without a good antenna.

Did I read this right? The only channel 6 I know of in AZ belongs to the UofA in Tucson. Or are you using the new digital definitions? I still haven't memorized those.

KMOH-TV Channel 6/6.x (RF Ch. 19) has been on the air in Kingman since 1988. It's been a standalone independent (1988-95), a WB affiliate 1995-99), and a satellite of KPNX (1999-2004), before becoming a Spanish-language broadcaster affiliated with various networks.

KMOH was a sister station to KNAZ-TV in Flagstaff. It was acquired by Gannett along with KNAZ, who shut down both the Flag and Kingman studios and made the channels repeater stations for KPNX
