Star 102.1 Flipped to Christmas today.

That's correct. They didn't "sit out." It was on KLUV-HD3.

I see i am getting a little pushback on my "sitting it out" comment.

98.7 went from promoting themselves as "The Christmas Station" for years to not airing any Christmas music last year. I get that they did provide Christmas music on their HD-3 sub-channel, but that is by all accounts a separate station that requires a special radio and knowledge that it is there to even receive.

You know The Oasis never really went away either...

No pushback here at all, and you are correct. Most people don't even know what HD radio is, or have an HD radio, so therefore, it appears that KLUV has abandoned the Christmas format completely. I merely pointed out that since HD radio is not a mainstream source, there is another option other than 102.1 for Christmas music. In all reality, KLUV have given the spotlight to KDGE for the Christmas format.

It seems Entercom is not putting all-Christmas music on the company's classic hits stations anymore. KLUV Dallas and WOMC Detroit both had gone all-Christmas for quite a few years in the past, but not currently. WCBS-FM NYC, WOGL Philadelphia and KOOL Phoenix gave it a shot once but not currently.

But I wouldn't say they don't play Christmas music at all. They all add Christmas music once or twice an hour leading up to the holiday. WCBS-FM goes all-Christmas from Christmas Eve till Christmas night. I assume the others do too.

Of course, Entercom's AC stations go all-Christmas, such as WBEB Philadelphia and WLIF Baltimore.
