89X & 93.9 The River promoting format flips Thursday

My guess is one will become a Soft Rock or Lite FM and the other a Classic Rock and Classic Country Mix. I will say, this is all very interesting we will see on Thursday at Noon.

I'm also told CKWW-580 will be changing formats.
Would the CRTC allow CKLW (News-Talk) to simulcast on one of the FMs? My best guess for 580 would be sports

That’s too bad, just had 580 on in the truck today. A good station for many years, it will be missed. Apparently a new MP3 player wasn’t in the budget for AM 580, Bell Media has to save money you know. Corporate Radio just sucks.

Nah. Bell barely does hybrid formats like the classic country/rock mix you’re referring to.

One will likely go CHR under the “Virgin” brand, the other will probably be “Pure Country” or classic hits.

93.9 The River's parting song was this awesome and appropriate title: Somewhere Only We Know by Keane
"This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know"

Detroit now has five Country stations counting W4 in Ann Arbor. How long before Windsor’s Country 95.9 does a format flip? Someone seriously should go Classic Country out the the five Country stations here in Motown.
