Layoffs at Power 96.1

I just heard that sadly there were layoffs at 96.1 in mornings. I think the Jubal Show is coming to 96.1...

I don't know what you're basing that on, but it would make sense. iHeart is paying a lot to put on Jubal in Seattle and probably wants to amortize his salary. He was previously syndicated by Alpha and on Hubbard's CHR in the market but left early this year in a dispute with the station.

I've listened to Jubal and also to the replacement show on the Hubbard station. Jubal is definitely very talented although I feel the competing show, which consists of Jubal's former producer and Jubal's former partner, is a little better in terms of creativity.

I think it's likely Power will have a live, local talent either in mornings or afternoon drive, probably afternoon drive if mornings are syndicated. They'll need someone local to do remotes.

Keep in mind ratings were down so maybe they just wanted to make a change in the afternoon.

Radio stations still do remotes? Even before COVID, I think the last time I heard a live remote on any station in my home market was probably 2018.

Usually, station appearances consist of a folding table, an "enter to win" box, some static stickers and perhaps tshirts that no one cares about, and a promotions department intern manning the table.

iHM seems to be taking its "radio station in a box" concept to the next level.

How many dayparts are currently local at The Bull?

Yes, I buy a lot of remotes when one of my clients opens a new branch (although not this COVID year). All of the remote packages come with a personality.
